Start of new training season at Jenoptik
In Jena and Dresden, Jenoptik welcomed new trainees and students from the Cooperative State University who are starting their careers in Thuringia with the new training year.
At the start of the new training year, photonics group Jenoptik is welcoming a total of 48 new trainees across Germany, 37 of them in Jena and Triptis, as well as eight students from the Cooperative State University. The numbers are thus at a stable high level, with significantly more trainees starting in the precision optician profession, which is important for the optics industry, than in previous years.
Those starting their careers at the Jenoptik locations in Thuringia are being trained at the “Jenaer Bildungszentrum gGmbH - Schott, Zeiss, Jenoptik” (Jena Trainee Center), where the new trainees had their first day of training on Monday, July 29.
In addition to Jena and Triptis, the German Jenoptik sites in Berlin, Dresden, Monheim and Villingen-Schwenningen as well as the subsidiary TRIOPTICS in Wedel are also providing training. In Dresden, Jenoptik welcomed two new trainees as microtechnologists at the end of July; the other locations will start later in August and at the beginning of September.
With the start of the new training year, Jenoptik employs a total of 118 young people throughout Germany (excluding TRIOPTICS) in training and dual studies as of September 1, 2024; further new dual students will follow in October. In total, around a quarter of all apprenticeships are filled by young women.
Jenoptik is currently training the following professions in Thuringia: Precision optician, mechatronics technician, microtechnologist, industrial mechanic, industrial clerk, warehouse logistics specialist, electronics technician for devices and systems, warehouse clerk, IT specialist, physics laboratory technician, product designer and process mechanic.
The new students at the Cooperative State University are starting their training in the fields of practical computer science, business administration, mechatronics, testing technology and quality management as well as production technology.
First day at the company
The new trainees for the Thuringian sites were welcomed at Jenoptik in Jena-Göschwitz on July 30, 2024. Head of Global HR Olaf Saathoff-Drillisch welcomed the group and wished them a successful start at the Jenoptik Group. “For us, training is an investment in the future. Our aim is to meet future demand for skilled workers by providing high-quality training that is aligned with market standards and technical trends,” Olaf Saathoff-Drillisch said. Every successful trainee receives a job offer from Jenoptik upon completion of their apprenticeship.
At the “trainee start” in Jena, the young professionals were not only able to meet their respective supervisors, but also representatives of the works council and the youth and trainee representatives. A tour of the company premises in Jena-Göschwitz, a time capsule activity and lunch together in the staff restaurant rounded off the day’s program.
